George Washington Coder born Sept. 23, 1839 in Ohio departed this life Feb. 11, 1915,age 75 yrs. 4 mon 22 da.
He was married to Miss Eliza Abbott of Quincy Ill. Dec. 11, 1864 moved to Missouri where they lived on a farm and of late years came to Maud to reside.
To this union was born 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls, all of whom except one survive him, Evalyn dying in infancy. Those living are, Mrs. Nellie Dankert of Maud, T. M. Coder of Arkansas, W. E. Coder of Iowa, Mrs. Edna Dawson of Duncan's Bridge, Geo A. Coder of Nebraska, C. L Coder of Maud, Mrs. W. E. Conrad of Spokane, Wash. He is also survived by his wife, 21 grand children and 3 great grand children. All of his family were at his bedside during his last hours except his daughter living in Washington.
Everything that loved ones and kind friends could do was done to relieve his sufferings and make his last days as comfortable as possible.
Mr. Coder united with the Christian church at Maud years ago and lived a faithful and Christian life.
Mr. Coder was a devoted husband and father and it is with sadness we see the home circle at last broken.
He will always be remembered with kindness and greatly missed by every one who knew him.
To the bereaved family the tenderest sympathy of the community goes out. May his rest be sweet and his awakening joyous.
The funeral took place at the Maud Christian church Feb. 12th at 3 p. m. conducted by Rev. J. H. Wood of Shelbina, Mo. Burial at Maud Cemetery.
