JAMES W. BIVINS, 57, of Southaven, MS, formerly of Memphis, TN died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at his residence.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Clara Bivins, son, Michael Bivins and grandson, Nicholas Bivins.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Niccolette Bivins, father, Walter Bivins and brother, Charles Bivins.

He leaves behind his mother, Minnie B. Bivins, sister, Earlene Burks (William Sr.), brothers, Lonnie Bivins and Curtis Bivins (Carla) all of Memphis, TN. He also leaves six other brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.

Mr. Bivins worked for the Memphis Police Department and the Memphis Fire Department. After retirement, he continued to work part-time for Pro-Tech Security until his health failed him.

Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2012 from 5-7 p.m.. at M. J. Edwards Funeral Home, 5494 Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, TN. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at The New Olivet Baptist Church, 3084 Southern Avenue, Memphis, TN. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown, 1661 Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, TN. M. J.
