Catherine Louise "Katie" Kennett, 92, of Avenue died May 13, 1996 at St. Mary's Nursing home in Leonardtown.
Born in Avenue on Dec. 18, 1903. She was the daughter of the late Cleveland Desales and Sara Madeline Woodburn Bailey.
She was the wife of the late John Kisbo Kennett, whom she married at St. Dominie's Catholic Church in Washington, D.C. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1983.
She was the mother of John K. Kennett Jr of Sarasota, Fla. Edward Kennett of Avenue and the late Patricia Ann Jones.
She was the sister of Sister Thomas DeSales Bailey. SCN and SCN and Sister Sara Cecelia Bailey, SCN, Both of Nazareth, Ky and the late Thomas W. Bailey and Mildred Bailey.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kennett retired from Morton's department store in Washington, DC. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Avenue and formerly a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Washington, DC prior to moving to St. Mary's County. She was a member of the Ladies Auxthary of the Knights of St. John's Council 259 in Washington, DC.
The family will receive friends at the Mattingley Gardiner Funeral Home in Leoanrdtown today, Wednesday, May 15 from 3 to 8 p.m. with prayers said at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow Thursday, May 16 at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Avenue with Rev. Monsignor John Brady, [astor as the celebrant interment will follow in Scared Heart Catholic Cemetery in Bushwood.
Pallbearers will be William Jones, Robert Kennett, George Kennett, Aloyius Raley, James M. Quade and William Kemp.
