Richard Arkland was born in Florence, Ontario, Canada, Feb. 24, 1864. He died at his home at Lohrville, Iowa, 14 Jun 1941. He was the oldest, son of John M and Sarah J. Arkland.
When about three years old he moved with his parents to Annawan, Illinois. In the year 1887, he was married to Mary E. Kelsey. In 1900, he moved to Iowa locating at Rinard.
In 1905, he moved to a farm three miles south of Lohrville, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, who died 12 Aug 1913. In October 1918, he was married to Mrs Lillian M. Moberg. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and one son, John E. Arkland and family, one brother and one sister besides a number of distant relatives and a great many friends.
Mr. Arkland experienced a change of heart at evangelistic meetings held at Lohrville about two years ago; following these meetings he united with the church, became a trustee and has ever since lived a consistent and devoted life.
His remains were brought to Annawan, accompanied by his son, Thursday. Interment was in beautiful Fairview Cemetery. The serves were conducted by Rev. C.C.Hoffman, pastor of Fairview Church. The pall bearers were his former neighbors and friends: Richard Pont, Samuel Pont and James W. Moon, William T. Stevens, Whelock B. Shaw and Wellington J. Shaw.
