Jack L. Shugart: Jack Long Shugart, 78, of 335 South College Ave., Bluefield, Va., died Saturday in a Bluefield hospital.
He was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. He attended Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Emory & Henry College in Emory, Va. He was a retired Bluefield Supply Co. employee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Taylor Shugart.
Survivors: brother, the Rev. James A. Shugart of White Pine, Tenn.; sisters, Mrs. Beth McGahey of Florida, Mrs. Margaret Davidson of Buena Vista, Va., and Mrs. Nannie Lou Gardiner of Bedford, Va.; sister-in-law, Strother Taylor of 335 South College Ave., Bluefield, Va.
Funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Bluefield, Va., with the Rev. Lloyd Pickett and the Rev. Walter Smalley officiating and burial at Riverside Cemetery in Rich Valley, Va. Graveside rites will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Dudley Memorial Mortuary, Bluefield, Va.
