John Lem Patterson

John Lem Patterson, 84, retired farmer and a long-time resident of Celeste, died at 9:00 PM Thursday night of last week (October 27, 1955) at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, October 29, 1955, at the Celeste Methodist Church with the Rev. Albert Click, pastor, and the Rev. Don Miller of Dallas officiating. Burial was in the Celeste Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lem Warren, Jacque Bickham, Jess McGuire, Tom Sparks, Edgar Hutchins of Greenville, and Hollis Griggs of Dallas.

Gray-Sorrells Funeral Home of Greenville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Patterson was born in Celeste on October 19, 1871. He was married to Miss Daisy Winton in March of 1895.

Survivors include two sons, Ardelle Patterson of Celeste and Dan D. Patterson of Nederland; three daughters, Mrs. O. M.(Lucy) Brown of Commerce, Mrs. Elmer (Earlene) Sudderth of Lafayette, Louisiana; and Mrs. R. J.(Marie) Connatser of Dallas; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister; and several nieces and nephews.

His wife died on March 9, 1931, and a son, Lynn Albert Patterson also preceded him in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Dick Brown of Commerce, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Connatser and daughter of Dallas, Mr. and Mrs. Tub Sudderth of Lafayette, Louisiana, Dudley Patterson, Frank Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Goodman, Mrs. Carl Fields, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Furr of Dallas were among those who attended the funeral of Lem Patterson on Saturday.
