Catharine Howell Swayze Rodenbough, 1800-1877, age 76.
Catharine is John Rodenbough's 2nd wife
_________
Catharine Howell Swayze was married to Robert Simpson 26 Mar 1818 in Sussex County, New Jersey. Robert died 8 Feb 1841 in Tompkins County, New York. Catharine and Robert had 13 children, most of whom died in New York, but a few came west to Oakland County.

Catharine then married John Rodenbough 7 Mar 1842 in Oakland County, MI. She and John had at 2 children.

John was her second husband and she was his second wife because he married first, her sister Hannah (aka Aurora) Swayze who had died in 1835 in Dryden, Tompkins, NY and had 8 children with Hannah, some of whom, I'm sure were still children when he married Catharine. In other words, between John and Catherine, they had loads of kids to raise and support so it was practical for the two of them to get married!"
