Wesley R. Backman, age 53 of Carson, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2008 at his home in Carson.
The Memorial Service for Wesley will be held at 2:00pm MT on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin with Bishop Timothy Cox, officiating.
Military Honors will be afforded by the Walter J. Thome American Legion Post #45 of Carson, ND.
WESLEY ROY BACKMAN was born April 12, 1955 in Bismarck, ND to Leslie Emanuel and Nellie Ellen (Burck) Backman. He attended school at Wilton Public School in Wilton.
Wes enlisted into the U.S. Army on August 22, 1972. He was honorably discharged on May 30, 1974.
He was united in marriage to Vicki Jo Spafford on October 22, 1977 at Wilton, ND. He lived in various places of the United States working mainly as a truck driver.
Wes enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Lee Shoup, Jerome, ID; 3 grandchildren, Lawrence Eugene Barnes, Matthew Ray Barnes, Raidyne Lestat Shoup, 2 step-grandchildren, Anthony Quinn Shoup, Mathew Wayne Shoup, 1 sister Beda Jo (Mrs. Don) Wall, Bismarck, ND; a nephew, Leslie Wall, Mandan, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Kristel Backman on July 30, 1995, 1 brother, Gary Gene Backman who died in infancy.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 to 2:00 pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin.
