Mrs. William (Clara) Bartran, 91, 1043 S. Quincy St., died this morning at a local hospital. Born Dec. 13, 1880 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Barkhausen, she was a graduate of the Green Bay Public School System. In 1903 she graduated from the University of Wisconsin. Mrs. Bartran taught in the high school systems of Baraboo, Florence, and Green Bay. Mrs. Bartran was active in the United Charities of Chicago. On April 10, 1912, she married Dr. William Bartran. The couple resided in Green Bay. Mrs. Bartran was active in the Red Cross in Green Bay, the Green Bay Womens Club, the Medical Auxiliary, and other local charitable organizations. She was also a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church. Her husband preceded her in death in 1950, and one daughter, Mrs. Harry Hunter, in 1953. Survivors are one daughter, Miss Margaret Bartran, Green Bay; one granddaughter, Mrs. Peter (Meredith) Jaret, Carmel, N.Y.; one great grandson, two sisters, Mrs. S. D. (Elizabeth) Hastings, and Miss Amanda Barkhausen, both of Green Bay; three cousins, Miss Dorothy Wendels, De Pere; Henry A. Schuette, Madison; and N. Sherman Schuette, Minneapolis, Minn.; several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Funeral 2 p.m. Monday at the residence, 1043 S. Quincy, with the Rev. Terry Ragland officiating. A memorial fund for the Pilgrim Congregational Church has been established in her memory. Findeisen-Greiser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
