Porter, Mrs. Esther Josephine Aalborg, daughter of Christian J. Aalborg, was born April 30, 1883, at Viborg, South Dakota. She died suddenly after an illness of fourteen hours, Sunday, Nov. 23, at Terre Haute, Indiana.
She attended school at Viborg, South Dakota, and Elk Point Academy, later graduating from Hinsdale Sanitarium School of Nurses. Following her graduation she took post graduate work at Loma Linda College of Medical Evangelists where she met Evangelist S.W. Porter. They were united in marriage at Los Angeles by Elder J.W. Christian, Sept. 1, 1918. Their first infant daughter died in California, while little L. Naane Ardith Porter, nine months old and her father mourn the loss of an exceptionally devoted mother and wife.
At the age of twelve years sister Porter was baptized by Elder Luther Warren and united with the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Before our sister passed away, she prayed that if it was God's will the Lord would but added, "God's will be done." Raise her up to care for her husband and baby; We sorrow not as others who have no hope; but rejoice as we look forward to the glad reunion day.
" O Lord Jesus, How long, How long, How long, ere' we shout the glad song, Christ returneth, Halleujah, Christ returneth. Amen. The funeral services were conducted by the writer, assisted by M.M. Kier, elder of the Swan Lake Church in Viborg, South Dakota.
