Nadine Elizabeth Smallwood, 93, of 1017 Aylor Grubbs Ave., Stanley, died on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at MontVue Nursing Home.
She was born on Nov. 10, 1920, in Stanley and was a daughter of the late John Burnette and Mabel Good Burnette.
Mrs. Smallwood was a graduate of Stanley High School and retired as a manager from Control Data Corporation in Alexandria. She was a member of the Alma Primitive Baptist Church.
On Dec. 14, 1940, she married Claude Thomas Smallwood, who died on May 17, 2004.
She is survived by a son, Barry Tom Smallwood and wife Joanne Smallwood of Shady Side, Md.; a daughter-in-law, Harriet Smallwood of Tucson, Ariz.; a son-in-law, Joseph Parker of Virginia Beach; a niece, Nancy Powell and husband Jimmy Powell of Warrenton; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Allen Smallwood; a daughter, Deborah Ann Parker; a brother, Forrest Burnette; a sister, Virginia Quigley; and three grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Elder James Painter. Burial will be in the Stanley Advent Cemetery.
