Mrs. Shirley Jewel Bridgers,70, of Paris passed away Tuesday December 27, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Bridgers was born on May 23, 1941 in Lamar County a daughter of Earl and Jewel Hignight Bowden. She retired from the Paris News as a paper carrier after 30 years of service and was a member of the Ramseur Baptist Church. Shirley married Rex E. Bridgers on June 4, 1955 in Lamar County.

She was preceded in death by a son Jeffery Paul Bridgers on May 6, 1961; her parents; and a brother-in-law Harold Edwards.

Mrs. Bridgers is survived by her husband Rex Bridgers of the home; children David Bridgers and wife Sharon, Paul Bridgers and wife Tinnia, Mark Bridgers and wife Nicki, Terry Bridgers and wife Mary, Gary Bridgers and wife Tammy, and April Bridgers is a granddaughter being raised as a daughter; grandchildren David Bridgers, Jr., Zachary Bridgers, Brian Bridgers, Brandon Bridgers, Sabrina Bridgers, Colin Bridgers, Peyton Bridgers, James Bridgers, Bradley Bridgers, April Bridgers, Justin Bridgers, Johnathan Bridgers, and Madison Bridgers; great grandchildren Jaxon, Jordan, Memphis, Savannah, Katelynn, Aidan, and Rex; brother Jerry Bowden and wife Gloria; and a sister Earlene Edwards.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 30, 2011 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Jon Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
