Pauline (Chuma) Alexander, 81, of Delmont, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg.

She was born May 14, 1922, in Andrico, Pa., a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Petrune) Chuma.

Pauline was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Export and the Delmont Firemen's Auxiliary. In addition, she enjoyed volunteering at the Friend's Shop, YWCA Thrift Shop and Salvation Army. Her career began with Acme Tool and Machine Works in Latrobe, which was a World War II ammunition plant. In addition, she worked for Jeannette Glass, was a manager at the Delmont Tastee Freeze, and enjoyed her work as a LPN.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, William M. Alexander Jr.; two brothers, Nicholas and Michael Chuma; and four sisters, Mary Luciow, Ann Cindric, Helen Sasso and Sophia Belladora.

Pauline is survived by her two children, William M. Alexander III and his wife, Linda, of Littleton, N.C., and Susan Alexander and her husband, Ed Breslin, of Wales, Mich.; two grandsons, William M. Alexander IV and his wife, Kimberly, and Todd Alexander and his wife, Julie; and three great-grandchildren, Korrie, Brooke and Kelsie. In addition, she is survived by a brother, Steve Chuma and wife, Emily, of Del City, Okla.; two sisters, Margaret Jenko and husband, Ralph, of Monroeville, and Stella Olech, of Greensburg; sisters-in-law, Rose (Escher) McAdoo and Morna Livengood and her husband, John; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. Pauline's funeral service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

As an expression of sympathy, memorials for Pauline may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Old William Penn Highway, Export, PA 15632, or the Delmont Volunteer Firemen's Auxiliary, Box 12, Delmont, PA 15626. The Delmont Firemen's Auxiliary will hold a memorial service Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
