Condon Ralph "Connie" Hammon
Decatur

He achieved the rank of corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict then went to work at Fruehauf in Vermillion, Ohio, after the war. Returning to Alabama in 1957 with his wife and son in to take advantage of the GI Bill, he worked at service stations while attending vocational school studying electricity.

During the space race, he was employed by Brown Engineering and worked on the development of the Saturn V, leaving in 1968 to form Hammon Electric Company, Inc. with his twin brother, Kenneth. Following Kenneth's passing, he closed Hammon Electric and joined his son, Gary, at EPIC Design and Contracting, Inc. until his death.
