Prosperous Farmer Near Eugene
Died Suddenly of Pneumonia (30 March 1914)

Antone N. Schwaller, age forty-six years, died at his home two miles east of Eugene Monday morning after a short illness of pneumonia. He is survived by a wife and four sons, Albert and William, of Etterville, Andy and Otto and two daughters, Elizabeth and Clara, who reside at home. He is also survived by a brother John of Omaha, Neb., Peter of Jefferson City, Frank of Etterville, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Schrimpf, of Wardsville and Mrs. Jacob Renn, of Jefferson City.

The deceased was a son of the late Xavier (Poppie) Schwaller and was born December 24th, 1867, on a farm three miles east of Jefferson City and resided with his father until he acquired sufficient education to accept a position as a clerk in Ben Durkham's grocery store at Jefferson City which position he held for several years. He then moved to a farm near Etterville and the following year, he married Mrs. Katherine (Buechter) Tellman. Mr. Schwaller lived on this place until the past two years when he rented his farm to his sons, Albert and William, and moved to another farm near Eugene.

Deceased in his short life, accumulated considerable wealth and was considered one of the most prosperous and up to date farmers of his community. He was also a director an vice president of the Farmers Bank of Eugene. Mr. Schwaller was not only a good financier but a good Christian gentleman with a very pleasant disposition and he will be greatly missed by his neighbors, friends and relatives. The funeral services were held by Rev. Kalvelage in the Catholic Church of Mary's Home and interment was made in the parish graveyard.
