LONGVIEW  — Services for Faye Irene Bunch Field, 99, of Longview, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael Schutz and the Rev. David Lindwall officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Bazette Baptist Cemetery in Kerens, Texas, under the direction of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road.

Mrs. Field passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011, in Longview.

Mrs. Field was born February 18, 1912, in Powell, Texas, to Henry William and Alice Vivian Howard Bunch. She taught Bible at Kilgore Junior College and Longview High School. She taught English at North Texas State University and University of Houston.

After retiring from teaching in her 60s, Mrs. Field began a second career as an author and authored five books and more than 600 published articles. She was also an accomplished book reviewer, giving monthly book reviews at Longview First United Methodist Church. She also taught a Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church for more than 60 years.

Mrs. Field was honored by the city of Longview with "Faye Field Day" in January 2001 and was a 2010 "Star Over Longview" recipient honored by Longview Regional Medical Center. She was a presenter at the East Texas Baptist University Writers' Conference in 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2006, she, along with her late husband, received the Cornerstone Award for outstanding service to Longview ISD.

Mrs. Field is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Gliceria Field; granddaughter, Juliet Belen and husband, John; grandson, Tommy Samuel Field and wife, Emily; two great-grandchildren, John Michael Belen and Jessica Faye Belen; sister, Vivian "Bunnie" Bunch Reed; nieces, Becky Supercinski, Sandra Hancock and Peggy Holt; and numerous cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Field was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, T.G. Field; one brother, Roy Bunch; and three sisters, Esther Bunch Washam, Ethel Bunch Pevehouse and Dollie Bunch Wilson.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Cassie Evans and Barbara Cruea, Beacon Hospice and caregiver, Brenda Jeffery.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Samuel Field, John Belen, Lee Supercinski, Frank Supercinski, Edward Aleman, Raymond Keese and Andy Williams.

The family requests memorials be made to Asbury House Child Enrichment Center, 320 S. Center Street, Longview, TX 75601.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2011, at Welch Funeral Home.
