VALLEY WOMAN SUCCUMBS TO LONG ILLNESS
Mrs. Laura Boyd, formerly of Cashmere but more recently living at Peshastin, died at a Wenatchee hospital last Friday alter a long illness. Mrs. Boyd was born in Baldwin, Illinois May 5, 1877 and lived there until her marriage to Ben G. Allen May 16, 1898. They came to Washington in 1899 homesteading northeast of Ephrata in Douglas county. In 1924 they moved to Wilson Creek living there until 1943 when they moved to Palisades. They moved to Cashmere in 1949 where Mr Allen passed away November 11 of that year. She was also proceeded in death by one son and three daughters. She was a member of the Presbyterian church. Surviving are three sons, Arthur Allen, Palisades, Robert Allen and Lester Allen both of Grand Coulee, two daughters, Mrs. Edward S. Clarke, Peshastin, Mrs. Fay Smith, Seattle, thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p m Monday October 11 at the Jones and Jones chapel at Wenatchee, the Rev. Sheldon O Price officiating with concluding services and burial in the Wenatchee cemetery.
