Miss Hayes had been a school teacher in Mount Kisco and Yonkers with the New York City School system. She retired in 1961. She attended Fordham University, New York University, and the University of Rochester. She was a member of the 1920 class of the New Paltz Normal School. She was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters. Eileen Hayes of Staatsburg is the surviving sister.
Daughter of James Hayes and Mary Fogarty.
