CORINTH - Willie B. Mitchell Sr., 85, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a member of the Wenasoga Church of Christ and a 30 year U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from ITT Telecom of Corinth. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Magnolia Funeral Home with Minister G. W. Childs and Minister Steven Hodgin officiating. Burial will be in the Henry Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Virble Harmon Mitchell of Corinth; three daughters, Brenda Sanders and her husband, Danny, Jackie Sweat and her husband, Bobby, all of Corinth, and Vickie Downs and her husband, Marty, of Wheeler; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Mitchell of Corinth; 10 grandchildren, Terry Mitchell and his wife, Rhonda, Bryan Mitchell and his wife, Stacy, Beverly Mitchell Trantham, Brad Sanders and his wife, Tracey, Ryan Sanders and his wife, Stacey, Kevin Nelms, and Shawn Nelms and his wife, Heather, all of Corinth, Jason Sanders and his wife, Selena, of Iuka, Alyce Barton and Mary Barton, both of Wheeler; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Mitchell and his wife, Mary Alice, of Corinth; two brothers-in-law, George Harmon of Granite City, Ill., and Charles Lee of Corinth; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Sloan and her husband, Dan, and Margaret Mitchell, all of Corinth; other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by one son, Willie B. Mitchell Jr.; a grandson, Tommy Daryl Nelms; his mother and father, Mazie Castile Mitchell and Charlie Mitchell; two brothers, Radie C. Mitchell and Deb Mitchell; two sisters, Daisy Lee and Mae Tice; his mother-and father-in-law, Willie Emma Harmon and Monroe Harmon.
Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
