Plan Roger H. Fife Funeral Services
Funeral services for Roger H. Fife, who passed away at the Christian Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., Friday morning will be held at the Danielson and Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth at three p.m. Monday. Friends may call at the funeral home until the hour of the funeral. Local Masons will have charge of the services at the grave. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Fife was born in Hardin county, Kentucky, Dec. 12, 1859. During his busy life of almost 88 years, he first worked as a farmer, carpenter, and stone and brick mason. Due to an accident, Mr. Fife prepared to teach, being for a time superintendent of Education in Hardin County. He entered the ministry, attending Transylvania and College of the Bible in Lexington, Ky.
Some years ago, Mr. Fife preached his 50th anniversary service in the Plymouth Christian church. During his 58 years of preaching, he delivered 12, 377 sermons in 40 states of the nation, and 13,911 responded to the invitation to accept Christ.
On November 4, 1881, he was married to Sarah Lucretia Hoover of White Mills, Ky., who preceded him in death. Five children survive: Mrs. Fred H. Kuhn of Plymouth, Mrs. Bess Clymer, Los Angeles, Calif., Clyde Lee and Robert S Fife, both evangelists, and Earl Hanson Fife, secretary evangelist of the Christian Churches of Montana. Thirteen grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
On Jan. 18, 18?7, Mr. Fife became a Mason. He is a member of the Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge No. 149.
