Her parents were David Osborn Sr and Cynthia Butler. Elizabeth's family was converted to the Mormon Religion, by Elder George H. Hinkle, who taught them the Mormon faith and baptized them. It changed their lives for ever more.

In 1835 Elizabeth's Father David Osborn Sr, rode five hundred miles, to Missouri to make preparations for moving to join the Saints.

In 1839 it was at this time that terrible persecutions commenced that year. It caused the David Osborn family much trouble. Elizabeth's Father David Osborn was taken prisoner, and after some weeks later was released. On his return home, after being a prisoner he found his home vacated, and his hogs killed, and much valuable property destroyed.

He found his family camping out and in terror of expected death. They were in the cold, snow, and frost. It was a sight to behold. David found his son William very ill and soon William died in his arms. It was hard to take and the mob didn't even care. Elizabeth was a child at this time.

In 1839 the family removed to Hancock Co, where the Father David Osborn started a home and a farm.

In 1846 they started the great trail toward the new home of the Church in the Rocky Mountains. They sold the farm he had started for a old cloth coat, and a few pieces of Pork.

They stoped at Garden Grove where David went sixty miles to teach school.

In 1852 they acquired a suitable outfit to cross the plains they started Zion ward.

At Council Bluffs, Iowa,Elizabeth was married to a fine young man named Josiah Hammer. He was a son of Austin Hammer who was killed at Hauns-Mill and Nancy Jane Elston Hammer.

At seventeen or eighteen years of age you came across the plains with Your Husband Josiah Hammer.Family members accompanied you. You were in the Thomas C.D. Howell Company -1852. Your parents David Osborn Sr, and your Mother Cynthia Butler and family were also in this group.Joshia's Mother Nancy Jane Elston, and brother Austin Hammer were also in this group.

A sad event occured on the long journey, your Mother Cynthia Butler Osborn died after giving birth to a still-born child.

You arrived at Farmington, Utah September 15 1852. In this area you became the parents of two children. Cynthia Adelaide Hammer Brown, Hunt and Josiah A Hammer.

This young family were not to be together very long on this earth. Both parents were ill with consumption.Elizabeth was called home first on March 10th 1858, at the young age of twenty two years old. Then of the 3rd of Feb 1857, Josiah passed away. This left the two small children with out parents. Loveing, kind family members from both sides of the family, stepped up and gave the two little children homes.

Both children grew up to be outstanding people, of whom thier parents would have been proud.

Elizabeth didn't live very long on this earth, but she left behind her a lot to be proud of. She was a sweet daughter, a loveing wife, a lovely Mother and she was a special child of God.
