Elizabeth "Bettie" A. Baxley, 70, of McHenry, died peacefully Wednesday,
Dec. 21, 2011, at Centegra Hospital –McHenry, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 25, 1941, in Woodstock, to Hubert "Huppy" and Lorraine M. (Knox) Smith. On July 21, 1984, she married John Baxley at St. Mary Catholic Church in McHenry.
She enjoyed playing bingo at the senior center and spending time with her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Smith; her three sisters, Sandi (John) Echelmeyer of McHenry, Mary Jo (John) Michels of McHenry and Terri (Rusty) DeBuck of McHenry; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, Dave Smith.
The visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. Deacon Joseph Phelan will officiate. Interment will be private for the family at St. Mary Cemetery in McHenry.
