Robert R. Merkley, 72, a resident of Van Dyne, was killed at 11 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Highway 54 and PP in Black Creek, Outagamie County.
Born Nov. 14, 1883, in Winnebago County, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Merkley. He married Agnes Reinhardt June 7, 1916, in Oshkosh. Mr. Merkley had lived and farmed in Van Dyne since 1919 and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Oshkosh.
Survivors include his widow who was seriously injured in the accident; one son; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Pahlman, Hortonville, Mrs. Mae Neumeyer, Neenah, and Mrs. Alvin Marsh, Omro; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Seefeldt Funeral Home, Oshkosh, until noon on Wednesday, when the body will be taken to the Christ Lutheran Church and lie in state until the 1:30 p.m. funeral service, Rev. Alex
