ELMO APPLEGATE
Elmo A. Applegate, 92, of Black Oak community, Vanceburg, Ky., died Saturday, May 2, 1992, at home.
Born April 12, 1900, in Tollesboro, Ky., a son of the late Jake and Francis Ruggles Applegate, he was a retired farmer and a Kentucky colonel.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Mae Long Applegate, whom he married Nov. 14, 1921, in Vanceburg; one son, Ancil Applegate of Vanceburg; a sister, Lena Stafford of Chillicothe; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg, with the Rev. Frank Jones officiating, and entombment in Lewis County Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and until the services Tuesday.
