DeRoy Ellis 1862-1910
Deroy Ellis was the youngest child born to Richard Spencer and Julia Ann (Avery) Ellis. He was born on June 21, 1862 (stone 1861) in Mahaffey, Clearfield, PA. He cared for his parents until their deaths in 1901 and 1902. He married Mary "Alice" Baker in New Washington, Clearfield, Pennsylvania on August 14, 1902. Deroy was a farmer, jockey and trader. He was the father of Julia Marie, Benjamin and Kenneth. Deroy was sick with stomach cancer the last three years of his life and was cared for by his wife. He died at age 47.

DeRoy's 5th great grandfather was Rev. John Eliot, Apostle to the Indians.
