Dudley Hiram Snyder, 70, pioneer cattle and oilman and director of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association for more than 30 years, died Monday afternoon at a local hospital. Mr. Snyder who lived at 1400 Elizabeth Blvd., came to Fort Worth five years ago from Colorado City, where he had lived more than 40 years. Although he had been in ill health for several years, he had been active in his business until a week ago. He was the son of the late Capt. D. H. Snyder of Georgetown, one of the founders of Southwestern University and an early settler of Mitchell County. Mr. Snyder was born in Round Rock and went with his father to Mitchell County when he was a boy. He was graduated from Southwestern University and in 1903 married the former Susie Beal of Colorado City. He raised Hereford cattle on his ranch in Mitchell and Howard counties. An oil field was also on the property. Mr. Snyder was a member of the Fort Worth and Colonial Clubs.

Survivors are his widow; one son, Dudley H. Snyder, Jr. of Dennison; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Rankin and Mrs. Helen Snyder Chandler, both of Fort Worth; one brother, Marcus Snyder of Billings, Montana; four sisters, Mrs. Warren W. Moore, Austin, Mrs. C. M. Armstrong, Seagraves, Mrs. William H. Atwell, and Mrs. E. J. Olive, both of Dallas; and seven grandchildren.
