Mr. Columbus T. “Tubby” Ayers, age 87 of 481 Chandler St., Hartwell, died Sunday, December 30, 2007 at his residence.
Born January 6, 1920 in Hart County, GA, he was the son of the late Earl Ayers and Alice Atkinson Ayers. Mr. Ayers was employed by Bell Bomber which became Lockheed Aircraft; he was retired from Lockheed as an Aeronautical Mechanic. He was former owner/operator of Cobb County Farmers Market for 15 years. He was a member of Hartwell First Baptist Church and Doc Adams Sunday School Class.
He is survived by wife, Hazel Vickery Ayers of the home; Daughter, Dianne Allison and her husband Roger of Marietta, GA; Grandchild, Shani Trapp and two great grandchildren, Bryson Trapp and Jamason Trapp.
He is preceded in death by Parents; Brothers, Carl, H.N., Pelham, Joe, Kendall and Ted Ayers; and sister, Laura “Libby” Neese.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Dr. Steve Williams and Rev. Carter Tucker will officiate. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8:00 p.m. The family is at the home.
