Janet married Thomas LOW on 08 Dec 1820 in Kennoway, Fife, Scotland. They were the parents of eight children: John, Peter, Thomas, unnamed baby, James, Elizabeth, George, and Alexander.
After her husband's death in 1850, Janet became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and immigrated to Utah with her children. They eventually settled in the area of Hooper, Weber, Utah.
After the family lived in Utah for a while, they started using the spelling of LOWE for their surname. It isn't unusual to see members of the family spelling the surname with and without an "e" on the end.
Janet Sharp LOW died 18 Sep 1871 in Hooper Springs, Weber, Utah. She was the first person buried in the Hooper Cemetery.
Note: Another researcher wrote me about Janet Sharp LOWE (also spelled LOW): "I have found a person you have added to the Hooper Cemetery named Janet Sharp Lowe in a book entitled, "A Bicentennial History-Hooper-Kanesville 1976" and Janet Sharp Lowe (the books spelling of Janet's last name) stated that she was the first person buried there in 1871 with her grave resting at the crest of the hill ... didn't know if you wanted to add that she was the first person buried in the Hooper Cemetery or not...but I find it is interesting information...don't you?"
