Sarah E. Severns, daughter of Andrew and Mary Ann Dorrell Furrer, was born at Easton, Ill., on Dec. 5, 1869 and departed this life suddenly at Peoria, Ill., on Nov. 2, 1944. She resided in Mason county for many years and lived on a farm near Easton, later moving to Easton and lived there until about 18 years ago when she and her husband, Henry Severns, moved to Peoria. Mr. Severns preceded her in death a number of years ago.
She is survived by two children, William Severns of Peoria, and Miss Ruby, of Peoria, with whom she made her home. There are also two grandchildren surviving; one brother, Frank Furrer of Easton; two sisters, Mrs. George Athey of Easton, and Mrs. Hulda Hauk of Peoria, besides many friends and other relatives.
Memorial services were held from the Baptist church in Easton on Sunday, November 5, 1944 at 11 a.m. in charge of Rev. W. A. Ogden. Mrs. Gertrude Ryno and Mrs. Addie Whitehead sang several songs during the services accompanied by Mrs. Arthur Hagan at the piano.
The casket bearers were: Ben Caves, Dr. A. E. List, Dudley Samuels, Ray Ryno, Blaine Tomlin and Walter Ellmore.
The floral offerings were cared for by: Joan Furrer, Avalee Hibbs, Patsy Fager, Janice Fager, Janet Furrer, Mary Ingersoll, Joyce Blunt, Betty Cunningham, Mrs. Etta Tomlin and Mrs. Marie Schrieber.
Interment was made in Easton cemetery with Niederer Memorial Service in charge.
