On 28 June 1880, the couple and their daughter Hattie lived in Grant township, Grand Traverse County. Henry was "lumbering" while Caroline was keeping house.
Caroline died on 19 January 1883 in Torch Lake, Antrim County, Michigan.
Henry died on 9 October 1897 from apoplexy in Acme township, Grand Traverse County. He had been working as an engineer at the time of his death.
Henry and Caroline were buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
