Mrs. Ella Long of Harmon, well known resident of that village of many years, passed away at her home at 5 o'clock Sunday morning, death resulting from heart trouble, after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at St. Flannen's Church, Harmon, at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Rev. Fr. Meilinger officiating and with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Mrs. Long is survived by three children: Thomas R. Long, Mrs. Kathryn Henkel and R.M. Long, her husband having preceded her in death six years ago. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; two brothers, John McCormick of Sterling and Will McCormick of Tampico, and two sisters, Mrs. John Burke and Miss Hannah McCormick, both of Sterling. A complete obituary will be published later. The news of her death brings sorrow to the hearts of her many friends.

Ella Long of Harmon was born in Hahnaman Twp., Whiteside Co., May 15, 1863, and at the time of her death was aged 69 years 3 months and 13 days, her death being due to a lingering illness of several months of heart trouble. The deceased was the oldest daughter of Thomas and Catherine McCormick.
On Feb. 4,1883, she was united in marriage to Richard M. Long of Harmon, who preceded her in death six years ago.
To this union were born six children: two sons, William and Joseph and one daughter, Mary, preceding her in death. She leaves to mourn per passing one son, Thomas H. and two daughters Kathryn Henkel and Helen C. Long all of Harmon, eight grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers, namely: Mrs. John Burke, Miss Hannah McCormick and John McCormick of Sterling and William McCormick of Tampico.
Mrs. Long was a woman of noble character and was blessed with a cheerful disposition which enabled her to carry out all her plans and to make her home and loved ones happy.
She was a devout member of St. Flannen's Church, a loving mother and a kind neighbor and a friend to all and will be greatly missed in her home and in the community. She was a member of St. Anne's Society, also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. The funeral services were held Tues. morning at 9 o'clock at St. Flannen's Church, Rev. Father Meilinger officiating.
The Church was filled with relatives and friends who came to pay their last tribute of love and respect to one they held so highly. Burial took place at Holy Cross Cemetery in the family lot. Her six nephews, John McCormick of Deer Grove, Paul McCormick of Coleta, Ralph McCormick of Sterling, Hugh McCormick of Tampico, Edward and Cecil McCormick of Harmon acted as pallbearers. The family of the deceased desires to return thanks to all who so kindly assisted in the last illness and at the funeral services.

We have lost our darling mother,
She has bid us all adieu,
She has gone to live in Heaven
And her form is lost to view.

Oh that darling mother, how we love her
Oh, how hard to give her up,
But an angel came for her
And removed her from our flock.
