He was born on Feb. 14, 1915, in St. Gabriel, and was reared and spent his youth in Bayou Goula. He was a former longtime resident of Port Allen and a resident of Baton Rouge for several years. He died at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at The Retirement Center in Baton Rouge. He was a retired sugar mill worker, having worked for many years at Poplar Grove Plantation, and later at Smithfield Plantation. He loved music and enjoyed dancing. He is survived by nieces, Stella Loupe Landry and husband Sonny Landry of Addis, Lois Loupe Ray, and Mildred Trahan Daigle and husband Russell Daigle, all of Port Allen, Joycelyn Haydel, and Linda Trahan Blount and husband Andy Blount, all of Baton Rouge, and Rita Dupuy Loupe of Brusly; nephews, R.J. Loupe and wife Catherine Loupe, and A.J. Sanchez and wife Pam Sanchez, all of Port Allen, Dudley Sanchez Jr. and wife Dianne Sanchez of Denham Springs, and William Haydel of Brusly; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Loup and Ida Ordeneaux Loup; siblings and their spouses, Joseph Haydel and Marie Loupe Haydel, Dudley Sanchez and Rita Loup Sanchez, Milton Trahan and Edna Mae Loup Trahan, Raoul Loupe and Virgie Gomez Loupe and Claude Loup and Myrtis Russell Loup; a niece, Ida Mae Sanchez Nickens; a grandniece, Cheryl Nickens; three nephews, Alton Loupe, Gerald Loupe and Joseph Haydel Jr.; and a grandnephew, Ross Sanchez. Visitation was at Wilbert's Funeral Home, Port Allen, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, with recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m., led by Sister Emma Noel. Visitation at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Allen, from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday Aug. 18, 2003, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Berggreen. Entombment in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church Mausoleum, White Castle. Pallbearers will be Andy Blount, R.J. Loupe, Brandon Sanchez, Terry Sanchez, Rusty Loupe and Russell Daigle.
