He was a proud Kentucky colonel and a member of the Catlettsburg Rotary Club and the Catlettsburg Church of God.

Tom was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, leaving behind a loving family — his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Boyd Arthur; a son, Tommy (Vanessa) Arthur of Athens, Ohio; two daughters, Teri (Mark) Steele of Ashland and Malissa (Kevin) McLeod of Catlettsburg; a sister, Dottie (Charlie) Salyers of Catlettsburg; and six brothers, Richard Arthur, Carl Lee (Anna Lee) Arthur and Gary (Mary) Arthur, all of Catlettsburg, Kenneth (Jackie) Arthur of Ashland, Donald (Debbie) Arthur of Olive Hill and Jerry (Anita) Arthur of Ashland.

Tom was blessed with eight grandchildren, Allison, Zachary, Blake, Katherine, Taylor, Brandon, Jessica and Natalie; and great-grandchildren Penelope and Sammy — Papaw Tom's latest little joy due on Monday, Sept. 22.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Charles Arthur and Ronnie Arthur, and a grandson, Kyle Allen Steele.

A funeral service in honor of Tom will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at the Catlettsburg Church of God. Pastor Steve Mays will offer words of comfort, with special music by Pastor Eddy Caudill. Final rest will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
