Elsie Lee Cardwell was born on July 14, 1926, in Winfield, Missouri, to Joseph Paul and Nannie Elizabeth (Kitson) Tayon. She grew up in Winfield graduating from high school in 1942. She married Russell M. Cardwell on January 3, 1944, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. In 1988 they moved to Yukon, Oklahoma, to make their home. Her husband preceded her in death on September 25, 1994. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Ron Cardwell and wife Judie Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her daughter, Loeta Cardwell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Mark Alan Cardwell and Kelly Wayne Cardwell and wife Delena; ten great grandchildren, Kynni Jo, Katy, Kyle, Ian, Taylor, Ty, Amy, Aubree, Kayla and Sierra; a brother, Ed; four sisters, Francis, Bernice, Beatrice and Mabel Ann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Johnnie Wayne Cardwell; a sister, Clarabelle; and two brothers, Johnnie Ray and Tom.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 1st in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home chapel in Blackwell, Oklahoma, with the Rev. Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
A memorial service has also been set for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2nd in the Vondel Smith North Mortuary chapel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,with Dr. Barbara Ryan officiating.
