Laura Webb Phelps was born Jan. 12, 1887, in Johnson County, KY, the 7th of 9 children born to William J. 'Bill' Webb and Margaret Honeycutt Webb. She died from breast cancer October 31, 1962, in Elk City, Oklahoma.
In 1902 Laura married Adolphus Alonzo "D" or "Dolphie" Phelps, and to this union were born six children. Their children were:
Charles Heber Phelps, 03/11/1903 - 02/14/1948
William H "Bill" Phelps, 02/16/1908 - 03/09/1996
George "Herman" Phelps, 10/28/1910 - 08/03/1989
Daisy Mae Phelps, 08/22/1912 - 04/19/2002
Adolphus D. Phelps Jr (who legally changed his name to Charles) Phelps, 01/11/1917 - 04/20/1994
Dorothy Phelps, 01/11/1921 - 01/28/1992
The family lived in Van Lear, Johnson County, KY through part of the 1920s, until they moved to Oklahoma. On the 1930 census, the Phelps were in Elk City, Beckham County, OK, where Laura and Dolphie stayed for the remainder of their lives.
Laura Webb Phelps was predeceased by her parents, and by her oldest child Heber, who died of cirrhosis at the age of 45. She was survived by her husband, her five remaining children, and nine grandchildren (two of whom - Heber's -- she had never met).
