James Kermon Wright, of Ferrum, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 18, 2011. He passed away at the VA Hospital in Salem.

He was a lifetime member of First Church of the Brethren of Ferrum. His family, Church, and friends were his life. He retired from Lane Co. and also served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Sarah Wright.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Elvie Wright; son, T.J. Wright and friend, Trina; grandchildren, James H. Wright and friend, Stephanie, of Roanoke, Max Wright and friend, Sara, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Lauren Wright, of Martinsville; great-grandchild, Madison; brother, John "Stage" Wright and wife, Frances; sister, Mary Wright; nieces and nephews; special niece, Peggy Hodges; nephews, Gary, Roger, and Phillip Solomon.

Flowers will be accepted or the family requests that memorials be made to FCBF (First Church of the Brethren of Ferrum), C/O Lucy Quinn, 2734 Thompson Ridge Road, Ferrum, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted from Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel, 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 with Pastor Ben Layman officiating. Graveside services will be conducted from Franklin Memorial Park 11 a.m. Thursday with military rites. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday with his family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, Route 220 at Wirtz Road, Rocky Mount.
