James Crown Williamson was the son of Samuel Johns Williamson and Ann Marie Barnes Williamson. "Crown" was the maiden name of his maternal grandmother, Maria Crown Barnes, who is also buried here at Harmony Cemetery.

James married Mary Kate Schrameyer Jack on 25 Nov 1897 in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia. Mary Kate was the widow of Jeremiah W. Jack. Her son, Charles Denton Jack, born in 1882, was mistakenly enumerated as "Charles D. Williamson" in the household of James and Mary Kate in 1900. James had no known children.
