EDITH MARY UTZ COOK of Columbia, MD, formerly a long time resident
of Potomac, MD, died November 2, 2005. Beloved wife of the late John S. Cook.
Loving mother of Catherine Cook Brockway, Janet Cook Gumaer and husband Don and
Phyllis Cook and husband Rich Hanlon. Cherished grandmother of John and Jared
Gumaer and Alta and Erin Hanlon. Predeceased by her brother, Fielding A. Utz,
Jr. Cherished aunt of Eric Utz and wife Linda, their children and grandchildren,
and Kim Utz and wife Paulette Hill-Utz. Edith Cook devoted her life to her
husband, family and friends. She had a long history of community service as a
Girl Scout leader and member of the altar guild at St. Francis Church. She was
also well known for her stained glass creations, especially her trademark St.
Francis that she designed and made. The family will receive friends at Harry H.
Witzke's Family Funeral Home, Inc., 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City on
Sunday, November 6 at 2 to 5 P.M. Funeral Services at St. Francis Church, 10033
River Rd., Potomac, MD on Monday, November 7 at 1:30 P.M. with a reception
following at the church hall. Interment private. Memorial contributions may be
made in her memory to: Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand
Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY
