Billy Carol "Bill" Poplin, age 77, of 132 Clearview Point Drive, Mt. Gilead, NC, passed away on Sunday, December 18th, 2011 in Stanly Regional Medical Center.
His funeral will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 21st, 2011 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel and the family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM just prior to the hour of service. Mr. Nathan Hammill will officiate and burial will be in Poplins Grove Baptist church Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by the Stanly Lodge #348.
Born September 4th, 1934 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Poplin was the son of the late Vaughn and Viola Furr Poplin.
He was the former owner of Bill's House of Seafood and also former owner of Pat & Mick's Seafood. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and Member of Stanly Lodge 348. He was also a Shriner.
Mr. Poplin is survived by his wife, Shelba Bowman Poplin of the home; two sons, Billy Steven Poplin of Lexington, NC and Martin Levi Poplin of Albemarle, NC; one daughter, Amy Poplin Dunatov of Raleigh, NC; one sister, Bonnie Poplin Cook of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
