Freddy C. Blanton, 69, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, surrounded by his family and close friends. He valiantly and bravely battled cancer to the very end. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Freddy was born Oct. 17, 1942, in Dallas. He was a 1961 graduate of Crozier Tech in Dallas. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He recently retired from Lockheed Martin after 24 years of service as a machinist and union committeeman. He was a loyal member of IAM Local 776B and loved the brotherhood of his fellow union members. Fred was a member of Lake Worth Masonic Lodge #1410. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, motorcycling, NASCAR races and living life to the fullest with great joy. He will be remembered as a force of nature with a unique sense of humor and a very generous heart. Our lives will not be the same without him. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Blanton. Survivors: His companion of 18 years, Evelyn Angell and her family; his sons, James and wife, Susan, John and wife, Chris, and Jason and wife, Carrie; daughter, Shannon and husband, Michael Atkins; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous close and loyal friends.
