Jo Ann Mullins Horrocks died Aug. 18, 2007, in the ER at Plateau Medical Center due to a heart attack.
Born Jan. 13, 1934, at Queen Shoals, Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Mahalia Jones Mullins. She also was preceded in death by her husband, George, on Nov. 6, 1998. They were married over 46 years when he died. Also, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Sue, in 1955; three sisters, Lora Rena Horrocks in 1972, Loretta Faye Preast in 1990, and Glenna Jean Rogers in 2007; and her in-laws, Tom and Abbie Horrocks in 1969 and 1970.
Mrs. Horrocks was a believer in Jesus Christ and a member of the Lansing Baptist Church.
Surviving: her loving little dog, Brady; daughters, Carol Horrocks Whisman and her husband, Carl, of Oakridge Addition, Fayetteville, and Vanessa Horrocks Palmer and her husband, Eddie, of Hilltop Loop, Hilltop; son, George "Tom" Horrocks and wife, Brenda, of Imboden Street, Ansted; grandson Chris Horrocks and his wife, Erica; granddaughters, Hollie Osborne and her husband, Jonathan, and Treasure and Mahaley Palmer; step-grandsons, Chris O'Boyle, Jason Palmer, Danny Palmer, Doug Whisman and Paul Whisman; three step-great-grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, Victoria, to be born on Dec. 11; sisters, Frances Bair of Prosperity, Phyllis Minnix of Belva, Thelma Gardner of South Carolina, Nina Knapp of Oregon, Jane Fields of Spencer, Ilene Humphrey of Pinch, Wilma Kaye Kinder of Charleston and Donna Short of Clendenin; brothers, Gerald Dean Mullins of Pinch, and Darrell Lee Mullins and Clinton Dale Mullins, both of Clendenin; stepmother, Mazie Mullins of Clendenin; sister-in-law, Judy Horrocks of Oak Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service was held at the Lansing Cemetery, Lansing, with the pastor who baptized her, the Rev. Winston O'Neal, speaking, on Aug. 21.
