Solomon Bemisss was born at Edmonton, March 18, 1810. Soon after, his parents moved to Pittsfield. At the age 23 he married Miss Ann R. Holl, and they continued to live in that town until April, 1855, when they moved to Cuyler, Cortland co, and in 1865 to his late residence in Truxton.
Mr. Bemis was born of New England Quaker ancestry, which doctrine he always held to and cherished. He commenced the battle of life without means, but, possessed of good health, good judgment, and strong will, he pushed to success his every undertaking. Pure in character, honorable in deal with strict regard for principle, an abiding hope in a bright and glorious Future: with a smile, a farewell and a "God bless you," he passed peacefully on to his reward. His widow and three children survive him. Two sons, R. B. and S. K. Bemiss, live at Canastota, and one daughter, Mrs. H. L Denison, at Truxton.
Mr. Bemiss was a brother of Mrs. Keith of Morris.
