Newell McDaniel
Newell Grant McDaniel of Hollis, died Sunday, August 20, 2000 in his home. He was 87 years of age. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2000 at the Hollis Church of Christ with Eddie Littrell officiating. Burial followed at the Dodson Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Stewart Funeral Service.
McDaniel was born July 25, 1913 in Hollis to William Walker McDaniel and Mabel Clair Royal McDaniel. He lived and farmed in Hollis his entire life. He and Ada Mac Burk were married in Altus on January 5, 1935. He attended Southeastern in Alva, OK and was a member of the Church of Christ. McDaniel was also on the slate alfalfa board, was a
member of the Arnett School Board and the Farmer's Co-op Board. He was interested in farming, baseball, tennis, track and beekeeping.
Survivors include his wife, Ada Mae, of ihc home; two sons, Lyndall Dale and wife, Alice, of Hollis and their five children and 12 grandchildren; Kerry Don and his wife, Kara, of Arlington and their one child and two grandchildren; a daughter, Anita, of Hollis and her two children and six grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Tillie, of Dodson and her four children and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Max Von McDaniel, in 1995.
