HOPE – Emmett John Waltz, 87, of Vancouver, Wash., died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Hazel Dell Health Center in Vancouver.

He was a former Bartholomew County resident, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Edinburgh Masonic Lodge. He operated a Western Auto parts store.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bozell officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday with a Masonic memorial service at 8 p.m. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh with military rites by Edinburgh American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Waltz was born Aug. 18, 1916, in Bartholomew County, the son of LeRoy and Florence E. Bisel Waltz. He married Laveinna June McFadden on April 13, 1941.

He is survived by a daughter, Sherry L. Parker of Vancouver; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Sept. 11, 1992; brothers, Elbert and Carl Waltz; and sisters, Laura Hamilton and Burlie Ashley.
