"George Nicklaus Called Suddenly By His Maker"
The community was shocked and grieved Monday to learn that George Nicklaus had suffered a stroke and was in a critical condition. he passed away early Tuesday morning May 12 at his home.
Mr. Nicklaus was born March 22, 1866 at Scales Mound, Ill. He was married about thirty seven years ago to Miss Elizabeth Tiedekin, who survives with eight children, three sons and five daughters.
The sons are Peter, Fred and Edward, all of Parkersburg. The daughters are Anna, Margaret, Marie and Frances of Parkersburg and Mrs. Elizabeth Heger of Madelia, Minn. He is also survived by a brother Peter Nicklaus Sr.
For a number of years the family lived on a farm, moving to town a number of years ago. Mr. Nicklaus was engaged in the grain and coal business, being manager of an elevator here for some time. He was a man of sterling worth, with many friends. A kind and loving husband and father, whose first thought was for his home and welfare of his family.
Funeral services will be held this morning, May 14 at 9:30 at Saint Patrick's church. the pastor Rev. L. W. Klassen will celebrate the Requeim Mass. Interment will be in the Saint Patrick cemetery.

Parkersburg, Ia. -- George Nicklaus, 70, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday at his home here of a stroke, which he suffered Monday.
He was born March 22, 1866 at Scales Mound, Ill.
Surviving besides the widow are three sons, Peter, Fred and Edward, Parkersburg, and five daughters, Anna, Margaret, Marie and Frances, Parkersburg, and Mrs. Elizabeth Heger, Madelia, Min.; also one brother, Peter, Parkersburg.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's church, Rev. Fr. L. W. Klaasen, pastor, officiating.
