John attended school in Wichita Falls and after graduation joined the U.S. Navy for service in WWII. He studied electronics and served aboard a destroyer in the Pacific.
After the war he attended Midwestern and Oklahoma University majoring in Engineering and Mathematics.
His life work was in electronics related fields: radio broadcasting, aircraft industry, research, sales and technical writing.
His main hobby for over 60 years was amateur "Ham" radio, contacting over 150 countries.
On a "Blind Date" in Houston, he met Sue Beth Craig, owner of "blue eyes and a smile" he couldn't forget. They were married by Pastor Karl Kasper of Mount Olive Lutheran Church on March 13, 1964. They moved to Boerne in October, 1966.
John Witt completed life on this earth on March 14, 2010 at age 83 years 4 months and 10 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Phil.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sue; daughter, Victoria; son, Philip; stepson, Michael; also 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, March 16 from 6:00 p.m. till 7:30 p.m. at Vaughan's Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church. Burial service at the Boerne Cemetery will follow the service.
