Grace Voetberg, 90, died peacefully at her home in Rock Valley on Thursday, January 14, 2010. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at First Christian Reformed Church. Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m., Monday at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley.
Grace Kooiman was born April 20, 1919 to Walter C. and Dena (Vugteveen) Kooiman in Lebanon, IA. She attended Rock Valley Christian School. Grace was united in marriage to Albert "Bert" Voetberg on March 27, 1941 in Rock Valley, IA. Together they lived in Orange City before moving back to Rock Valley where Grace was a homemaker. Bert died July 10, 1993. She was a life long member of the Christian Reformed Church. Grace enjoyed crocheting, sewing, traveling with Bert and visiting with many friends.
Grace is survived by 1 son, Harlan (Carol) Voetberg of Pinckneyville, IL; 1 daughter, Deanna "Dee" (Howard) Van Beek of Lynden, WA; 6 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Jennie (Marinus) Maassen; 3 sisters-in-law: Helen Scholten of Rock Valley, IA, Marian Kooiman of Seminole, FL and Grayce Kooiman of Rock Valley, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bert; brothers: Herman "Doc" Kooiman and Cornelius "Koik" Kooiman; sister, Elizabeth Kooiman and infant sister, Pearl Kooiman.
