J.L. Campbell, 81, of Roscoe, died on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Nolan Nursing and Rehab Center in Sweetwater.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Champion Baptist Church with Reverend Bruce Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at Champion Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
J.L. was born on October 21, 1930 in Roscoe, Texas. He married Roberta C. Bankhead on June 11, 1949. J.L. had lived in the Roscoe area since 1930 and attended Highland School. He was a member of Champion Baptist Church. He had worked for USG, was a Cotton Ginner, worked for Nolan County Precinct 1 for 20 years and was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Roberta Campbell of Champion Community, Roscoe, TX; Son, Bob Campbell and wife, Jeanette, of Snyder, TX; Daughter, Patsy Sanford of Roscoe, TX; Grandchildren, Shae Sanford and wife, Caroline, of Abilene, TX, Kyle Sanford and wife, Brooke, of Bronte, TX, and Courtney Campbell of Abilene, TX; Great-grandchildren, Seth and Tyson Sanford of Abilene, TX and Aubree Sanford of Bronte, TX.
J.L. was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Campbell on December 6, 1971 and Lloyd T. Campbell on July 1, 2005, and his sister, Frances Petty on October 15, 2010.
Pallbearers will be James Wells, Randall Bankhead, Wendell Bankhead, Ray Cornutt, Bill Ivy, and Jimmy Johns.
