He was a retired electrician with Norfolk and Western Railway, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Atlantic Masonic Lodge #1 A.F.&A.M. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ethel Brown Shelton of Roanoke; three sisters-in-law, Virginian Bolt of Roanoke, Ethel Nawman of Ventura, Calif., and Lois Stanger, Blacksburg.
