Alda M. Pearcy John, Abingdon Chapel age 96 of Avon, died at 7:35 am Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born on August 13, 1915 in Camp Point, the daughter of Otha and Lizzie (Park) Beer. She married Floyd Lenz in 1938. She later married Arnold "Hop" Pearcy in 1963. He preceded her in death in 1988. She then married Donald John in 1990 and he preceded her in death in 1993.
Surviving are two sons, LeRoy (and Susie) Lenz of Knoxville and Roger (and Bobbie) Lenz of Galesburg; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; nineteen great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Roberta Marie Lenz and Patricia Powell, a sister, Margaret Beatty and a granddaughter, Roberta Wilson Jacobs.
She graduated from Prairie City High School. She had lived in the Abingdon and Avon areas most of her life. She was a member of the Avon United Methodist Church and a member and past officer of the United Methodist Women.
Graveside service will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Jim Lenz, her grandson, will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Tuesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
